Research and Development Expenses of Pepsico 2005 to 2017

Pepsico is engaged in a wide variety of research and development activities t retain sustainable growth and to innovate its product portfolio in order to meet the continuously changing nature of customer demand. From 2005 to 2017, Pepsico’s R& D expenses have grown more than 2.5 times from 280 million dollars to 737 million dollars. Some of the main activities included in research and development at Pepsico are as follows:

  • Development of new products, flavors and ingredients.
  • Improving the quality and appeal of existing flavors.
  • Improvement and modernization of manufacturing processes.
  • Improving product quality and integrity as well as packaging design and sizes and similar more activities involving flavors, sweeteners and packaging.
