Amazon Cloud Revenue

Amazon has experienced significant growth in its cloud revenue driven by higher demand for cloud based services. AWS experienced around 29% revenue growth in 2022 compared to the prior year. Amazon’s cloud revenue totalled $80.1 billion in 2022 compared to $62.2 billion in 2021.

2021: Amazon’s net revenues from its cloud business segment names AWS has continued to grow fast over the past several years. In 2021, the company’s AWS net sales increased to $62.202 billion compared to $45.370 billion in 2020. AWS generated $18.532 billion in net operating income in 2021 compared to $13.531 billion in 2020. Its operating income was higher than that generated by each of the two other Amazon’s business segments and their combined operating incomes.

The contribution of AWS (Amazon’s cloud services platform) to the net revenue of Amazon has continued to grow over the last several years. In 2019, the net contribution of AWS to the total revenue of Amazon was around 12.5%. AWS generated $35 billion in 2019 compared to $25.65 billion in 2018. 

2018: AWS revenue grew around 47% in 2018 compared to the previous year. Rising from 17.5 Billion dollars in 2017, it grew to 25.65 Billion dollars in 2018.
