Staff costs of Unilever include wages & salaries, social security costs, other pension costs and share based compensation costs. Its staff costs increased to 6.7 Billion Euros in 2017 from 6.5 Billion Euros previous year.  Unilever spent 5,416 Million Euros on wages and salaries alone in 2017. In 2016, it spent 5,347 million Euros on wages and salaries.

Unilever is one of the leading consumer goods companies of the world with around 400 brands in its portfolio. The company sells its products in around 190 countries. Around 2.5  Billion people around the world use its products daily. Some of the brands by Unilever that have become household names are Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Axe, Hellmann’s and Omo. Unilever also owns 13 Billion Euro brands and 13 of the top 50 brands of the world.  The brand operates across four categories of which the largest is Personal Care, followed by Foods, Home Care and Refreshment. The brand invests a large sum in research and development as well as marketing. Its extensive global presence is a major advantage. The company generates around 58% of its revenue from the emerging markets.
