The net profit of Unilever jumped to 6.5 Billion Euros in 2017 from 5.5 Billion Euros in 2016.
Unilever is one of the leading consumer goods companies of the world. It has around 400 brands in its portfolio. The company sells its products in around 190 countries. Around 2.5 Billion people around the world use its products daily. Some of the brands by Unilever that have become household names are Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Axe, Hellmann’s and Omo. Unilever also owns 13 Billion Euro brands and 13 of the top brands of the world. The brand operates across four categories of which the largest is Personal Care, followed by Foods, Home Care and Refreshment. Unilever invests a large sum in research and development as well as marketing. Its extensive global presence is a major advantage. The company generates around 58% of its revenue from the emerging markets. Unilever serves around 25 million retail stores globally. It covers eight million of them directly and another 17 million indirectly through wholesale and cash & carry. Its global distribution network has more than 400 warehouses and its global manufacturing network spans more than 300 factories in 69 countries.
