The chart above compares the GDP of the United States and China, two of the leading economies from 2000 to 2022. According to world bank figures, GDP of the United States stood at $23.32 trillion in 2021, while China’s GDP at $17.73 Trillion. China’s GDP has grown faster than the US in recent years. In 2021, the annual growth rate of China’s GDP was 8.1% while that of the US GDP was 5.9%. China’s GDP grew from $14.69 Trillion in 2020 to $17.73 Trillion in 2021 and the GDP of US expanded from $21.06 Trillion in 2020 to $23.32 trillion in 2021.

United States Versus China Annual GDP Growth Rate 2010-2021

The chart above displays the annual GDP growth rate of US and China from 2010 to 2021. In 2020, US GDP grew at -2.8% while China’s grew at 2.2%. China’s annual GDP growth rate in 2021 was 8.1% while that of the US was 5.9%.

2017: US and China are the two leading economies of the world with the highest GDP (Gross Domestic Product). US economy’s GDP for 2017 was 19.4 Trillion dollars and growth rate 2.3% (WorldBank). As per IMF estimates, U.S. GDP’s growth rate was 2.2% in 2017. China economy’s growth rate in 2017 was 6.9 percent (World Bank & IMF). Its GDP was 12.2 Trillion dollars in 2017 (World Bank).  During the 2008-17 period, China’s GDP growth rate was highest in 2010 at 10.6%. US economy achieved the highest growth rate of 2.9% in 2015 (WorldBank).
