The following table shows the revenue Walt Disney earned from its various business segments from 2001-2017. 

Walt Disney’s business is divided into four major segments that include Media Networks, Parks and resorts, studio entertainment as well as consumer products and interactive media. The first table shows the distribution of revenue from 2007-2017 and the second from 2001-2006.

Walt Disney earns the highest revenue from its Media network businesses. The media network is further divided into two segments including cable network and broadcasting. Media networks earn from affiliate fees, advertising, TV/SVOD distribution and others. Apart from media networks, Disney parks and resorts are the second largest source of revenue for the brand.

In 2017, there was a small decline in Walt Disney’s revenue from media networks. Its total revenue from media networks was 23,510 Million dollars in 2017 as compared to 23,689 Million dollars in 2016. Disney’s revenue from Parks and Resorts was higher in 2017 compared to 2016. In 2017 it rose 18,415 Million dollars compared to 16,974 Million previous year. Revenue from Studio entertainment and consumer products & Interactive media fell in 2017 compared to 2016. 2017 revenue from studio entertainment was 8,379 Million dollars as compared to 9,441 Million previous year. Total Revenue from consumer products and Interactive media was 4,833 million dollars compared to 5,528 Million dollars previous year. Walt Disney’s total revenue fell by around 500 Million in 2017 compared to the previous year. It reached 55,137 Million dollars in 2017 compared to 55,632 Million dollars in 2016.
